Some research institutes have recently reported that as of the end of September, the total installed capacity of China's operating PV systems exceeded 165 GW. This means that the 2020 target of 105 GW originally envisaged in the 13th Five-Year Plan is already successfully exceeded 50% . According to analysis by some research institutions, China National Energy Administration (NEA) is planning to adjust the 2020 solar deployment target to at least 210 GW. Analysts said the target could even be raised to 250 GW to 270 GW to support the Chinese solar component industry. The mission of our energy research institute is to assess the impact of the planned adjustment targets. Some research institutes point out that if the target were raised to only 210 GW, from next year to 2020, there will be only 20-25 GW photovoltaic capacity increase per year, which will not have a significant impact on local demand. However, adding at least 250 GW will mean deploying more than 40 GW of solar energy per year. Due to the normal changes introduced by the Chinese government at the end of May, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association CPIA announced the slowdown in Chinese demand last week. It is estimated that China's new photovoltaic power generation capacity will be about 40 GW this year and it is expected to be connected in China. This will mean that China is still the world's largest solar market, although deployment is 25% lower than in 2017. The association believes that about 50% of new capacity will come from large solar power plants, and the remaining share is expected to be smaller and decentralized systems.
