Why Outriggers Are Essential for mobile light tower?

Dec 16, 2024 Leave a message

Outriggers serve as crucial components in mobile lighting tower. These devices extend from the trailer to provide additional support and stability. The primary function of outriggers involves preventing tipping during operations.

Outriggers stabilize the mobile lighting tower by distributing the weight evenly over a wider base. This distribution minimizes the risk of tipping or shifting during transport and installation. The extended reach of Outriggers allows the trailer to remain balanced even on uneven terrain. Properly deployed Outriggers ensure the trailer remains secure, reducing potential safety hazards.

Why Outriggers Are Essential for mobile light tower

Types of Outriggers

BIGLUX mobile lighting towers are equipped with hand-operated outriggers. The operator must manually extend these outriggers and lock them in place. A hand crank is then used to adjust the height of the jacks and level the trailer as a whole. They may require more time and effort than automated systems, but provide more effective stability.

Importance of Outriggers in mobile lighting tower operation

Prevention of tippingh and displacement

Preventing tipping is the main function of the outriggers. By extending outward, the outriggers extend the footprint for the trailer. This extension counteracts the forces that could cause the trailer to tip over. In addition to this, the weight of the trailer can be evenly distributed over the four outriggers to prevent excessive loads from being placed on a single point.

Enhanced wind resistance

Wind poses a significant challenge to the stability of lighting trailers. Strong gusts can easily destabilize trailers without proper support. Outriggers counteract wind effects by anchoring the trailer firmly to the ground. This anchorage minimizes the impact of wind, allowing mobile lighting tower to maintain their position even in adverse weather conditions.

Adapts to uneven terrain

Many mobile lighting towers may need to be deployed in sketchy environments where it is difficult to find a flat surface. Therefore we can adjust the height of the legs to keep the trailer level. This allows our temporary lighting to cover more of the scene.
