According to foreign media reports, European utility and power producer RWE is deploying two battery energy storage projects with a total installed capacity of 10.6MW in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The two solar + energy storage projects are being deployed at the Garzweiler opencast mine near Bedburg in the Rhine-Elf region and will be operational by spring 2023.
The first is that the solar + Storage project is under construction at the existing K? nigshovener Hohe Wind Farm co-site deployment, the project will deploy a 19.4MW solar power facility and 6.5MW/13MWh battery energy storage system.
Meanwhile, a second solar + storage project called Jackerath, comprising a 12.1MW solar power facility and 4.1MW/8.1MWh battery energy storage system, will be deployed to the west of the Garzweiler opencast mine.
