Germany needs 216,000 skilled workers in the new energy industry
According to the survey of relevant departments in Germany, there is a shortage of skilled workers in Germany. In particular, there is a shortage of electricians, among other things, technicians responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar systems.
With the energy crisis, all countries have accelerated the energy transformation, among which the shortage of skilled workers hinders the energy transformation of Germany. By one count there is a shortage of about 216,000 skilled workers. The biggest openings are in building electrical, sanitation, heating and air conditioning technology, and computer science.
According to the research of relevant institutions, in order to achieve the goal of energy transition before 2030, the development speed of new energy must be increased, so more industry technicians are needed. According to the study, there are currently nearly 444,000 openings for jobs related to solar and wind power. Nearly 17,000 electricians are needed for the energy transition. The training and learning of personnel is a process due to the law, the necessary safety standards and occupational health and safety and work.
Research shows that electricians are not only one of the key jobs at the core of solar and wind power development, but they also play an important role in other industries. Therefore, every company should increase training opportunities in positions.
So far, women's participation in the new energy sector is low, according to the research institute's report. By 2021, nine out of 15 new energy-related industries will have less than 10 percent female employees. Therefore, the improvement of training policies, through retraining or further training of semi-skilled and unskilled workers, can accelerate the technical capability and level of the relevant technicians.
