Longi reiterated his commitment to a "zero-carbon factory"
Longi Green Energy Technology Co., LTD. (Longi), one of the world's leading solar technology companies, reaffirmed its commitment to a "zero-carbon factory" at the 2022 United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity.
Li Zhenguo, founder and President of Longi, delivered an important speech during the second stage of COP15. He shared his views on the management and development of the business and how it can help promote biodiversity conservation. He also gave an update on Longi's Baoshan production base in Yunnan Province, China, which is the pilot plant for Longi's net zero emission transition. He also encouraged more socially responsible enterprises to contribute to the living environment of mankind.
For the record, Longi announced an ambitious plan to transform the Baoshan plant in Yunnan Province into the first "zero-carbon factory" by 2023 at the 2021 United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity (COP 15) Phase I meeting in Kunming, China. And it plans to roll it out to all factories over time, in order to meet emission reduction targets.
The Baoshan factory, one of the most important manufacturing facilities in the PV industry chain, will have its first zero-emission factory, he said, adding that it plans to increase the utilization rate of renewable energy in the plant's daily production and operations from 90.91 percent to 100 percent by 2021.
To significantly reduce emissions, Longi is investing more in gas recovery technology, and it is estimated that Longi's first gas recovery project at its Baoshan plant has reduced the plant's carbon emissions by more than 90 percent, bringing annual carbon dioxide emissions down from 32,000 tons to 3,200 tons.
Meanwhile, the latest digital energy management system has been deployed at the Baoshan plant to improve energy efficiency. A zero-carbon park has also been established to strengthen the education of green and low-carbon awareness among employees and encourage all employees to participate in protecting the environment.
