What's Gel batteries?
Gel battery is a chemical energy storage device using lead and lead dioxide as the negative and positive active substances of the battery and dilute sulfuric acid as the electrolyte, which has the characteristics of high electrical energy conversion efficiency, long cycle life, high terminal voltage, strong safety, high cost performance and simple installation and maintenance, etc. It is currently the preferred chemical power source in all kinds of energy storage, emergency power supply and starting devices. The main components of lead-acid battery include
1. Pole plate: The positive and negative plates are made of special alloy plate grids coated with active substances, which store and release energy during charging and discharging to ensure the capacity and reliable performance of the battery.
2. Separator: It is an isolation medium placed in the middle of the positive and negative electrodes of the battery to prevent the short-circuiting of the positive and negative electrodes of the battery by direct contact, and the materials of the separator are different for different types of lead-acid batteries.
3. Electrolyte: The electrolyte of lead-acid battery is dilute sulfuric acid prepared with distilled water, which plays the role of transferring ions between positive and negative electrodes during charging and discharging, so the electrolyte must be free of impurities.
4. Battery case cover: The case cover in which the battery is wrapped, the electrolyte and the pole plate are inside the container, which mainly plays a supporting role, and at the same time prevents the internal material from spilling out and the external material from entering the internal structure and polluting the battery.
Usually, Biglux standard gel batteries are 150ah*DC12V and 200ah*DC12V. Biglux gel batteries are very stable, it can be used for 3-4 years without broken. And our batteries wires are screwed together.Sealed gel battery is placed for a long time on the power will be depleted, after all, there is a relative resistance in the current, the resistance will consume power. Therefore, sealed gel batteries are not recommended to be placed for a long time, or there will be no power when they are used later. After that, customers can buy them from their local market, it is very easy.
Some customer will request single battery to be 24V to match the system voltage of 24V. But Biglux gel batteries are 24V after series-parallel connection. So it is no problem for customer's using.And if they have looked at replacing the Gel batteries with lithium LifePo4 batteries eventually for performance reasons. Customer will worry about that the MPPT won't be able to charge the lithium batteries. We have double checked with our engineer that our MPPT can charge customers Lithium batteries. Just make their lithium batteries into 24V.
